Wattle and Daub - Substance Source Signature Collection

Wattle and Daub is a construction method where a wooden lattice was then coated with a mixture of clay, animal dung and straw. To create a tough insulative wall. It has been used for thousands of years and was very common in medieval architecture. The graph features parameters to control the density of the weave as well as the quality of the daub ontop. As well as some extra variations such as wet daub that has been recently applied. With specific parameter adjustments, It could be used to output two separate materials, bare wattle and perfect daub which could then be combined in Painter or with a vertex paint shader in a game engine for greater artist control when working on architectural assets.

It is part of my Medieval themed Signature Collection for Substance Source which I had the pleasure of working on with the awesome people of the Substance Source team over at Adobe. I set myself a few goals for the set. The most important of which was thorough customisability of each material, I wanted each substance in the collection to have numerous parameters with variations of the main graph could easily be created to give the user a lot of flexibility to customise each material to the needs of their specific projects.
