A palisade of sharpened stakes, the type of barricade you might find around a medieval military encampment. The substance allows you to control exactly what work has been done to the stakes. Such as the level of bark stipping, how sharpened each end is, or if they are even sharpened at all. There are also parameters to control the damage and dirt. As well as for the ropes used to bind it, and any pitch applied to the base of the stakes to better protect the foundations against the terrain. In an environment, the alpha-cutout version of the substance would work great for background imposter/card applications of palisades. There is also the option to ignore the sharpened ends altogether, at which point the substance can be used to output perfectly tileable log walls, with all the same options for damage and grime settings.
It is part of my Medieval themed Signature Collection for Substance Source which I had the pleasure of working on with the awesome people of the Substance Source team over at Adobe. I set myself a few goals for the set. The most important of which was thorough customisability of each material, I wanted each substance in the collection to have numerous parameters with variations of the main graph could easily be created to give the user a lot of flexibility to customise each material to the needs of their specific projects.
