While I was working on the flagstone material I couldn't decide between a more regular pattern or the often attractive crazy paving style. In the end, by separating much of the stone processing and weathering passes from the initial shape setup, I created a graph that could output both. Once the blocks are set the weathering and ageing parameters give you plenty of extra control to add even more variation to customise. From a brand new clean-cut courtyard floor to the foundations of a long-forgotten overgrown ruin.
It is part of my Medieval themed Signature Collection for Substance Source which I had the pleasure of working on with the awesome people of the Substance Source team over at Adobe. I set myself a few goals for the set. The most important of which was thorough customisability of each material, I wanted each substance in the collection to have numerous parameters with variations of the main graph could easily be created to give the user a lot of flexibility to customise each material to the needs of their specific projects.
