Medieval Wood Shingle Roof - Substance Source Signature Collection

Wood shingles are another common medieval roofing material. I had a lot of fun coming up with a method to layer the shingles in this graph that maintained the shaping I wanted whilst minimising overlaps and intersections. I ended up layering multiple tile sampler passes of various gradients, to achieve the final shingle shapes. The graph has options for various types of detritus to scatter on the surface. Leaf litter, leaves and moss are all present and individually adjustable. The shingles themselves have controls over various levels of damage and ageing.

It is part of my Medieval themed Signature Collection for Substance Source which I had the pleasure of working on with the awesome people of the Substance Source team over at Adobe. I set myself a few goals for the set. The most important of which was thorough customisability of each material, I wanted each substance in the collection to have numerous parameters with variations of the main graph could easily be created to give the user a lot of flexibility to customise each material to the needs of their specific projects.
